The WACWISA Core Team met over a 3-day period to undertake a mid-term review of the performance of the Centre, which was established in January 2019 and to develop the Implementation Plan for 2022. The performance review meeting commenced on the 26th of November, 2021 at the Akayet Hotel in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. The meeting focused on reviewing the performance of the Centre in implementing activities towards achievement of the Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLIs), and strategizing to meet the set targets of the project.
In a welcome address, Director of WACWISA, Prof. Felix K. Abagale, expressed his appreciation to the team for the commitment and making time to participate in the performance review meeting. He noted that the performance review meeting is critical for successful project implementation. According to him, though Management of the UDS is committed to supporting the success of the Centre, it is desirable for WACWISA to harness opportunities among its various ongoing projects to support the achievement of DLIs.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of WACWISA, Prof. Mamudu Akudugu highlighted achievements and challenges in meeting the DLIs. He revealed that though the Centre is on course to achieve a significant proportion of its targets, sustained, holistic and focused strategies were critically needed for the success.
The team discussed and devised strategies for accelerating the attainment of each of the seven (7) DLIs. An Implementation Plan for 2022 was developed and submitted to the Association of African Universities (AAU)/World Bank (WB) for review and approval.
