Prof. Jacques SOMDA is the currently the Country Director of the International Union for conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Burkina Faso. He held several positions within IUCN, including the regional project development officer and the GEF/GCF Coordinator, the Regional Program Officer for Planning, M&E and Learning at the regional office for Central and West Africa. He was the program leader of Socioeconomic, Macroeconomics and Policy at the International Trypanotolerence Centre in The Gambia, Scientist at the National Centre of Scientific Research and Technology in Burkina Faso, and Lecturer at the University of Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. He holds a Doctorate degree in Rural Economics and an Agricultural Engineer Diploma.
